One thing I talk about every day (yes, EVERY day) with my clients is how to manage stress and anxiety. Stress is a daily reality for almost all of the people I work with in my practice. That means that about 7 hours per day (or more) I am talking to someone who is dealing with stress. Stress/anxiety comes in many forms with many different triggers. What that means is I have a lot of experience helping people deal with anxiety and stress. As I sit here typing this entry about stress and anxiety, I am confident I can help you learn new, better ways to help you manage your stress and anxiety.
That being said, I thought, "How can I be the most helpful to the most people at once?" My answer to myself was to use this webpage as a place to help people understand stress & anxiety better and help you learn really useful, real-life strategies for dealing with daily stress and anxiety. Something I believe as a therapist is that you have to know HOW to deal with your problems in the real-world, not just read some pretty words in a pretty book (or online) and then leave it on the coffee table (or shut down your computer). You must DO something different to get a different result. So if the result you have been getting is sky-high stress and anxiety, let's try something different. I hope to give you a variety of ways to help manage your anxiety. Week by week, post by post, something new to try. And with the holidays coming, I couldn't think of a better time to start this conversation.
It is important to remember that not every strategy will work for every person or situation. Certain situations may call for certain strategies. A specific person, (YOU!) may prefer certain strategies. One of the big keys to managing your anxiety is experimentation. See if the strategy works for you. Experiment with it for a week or two. If it doesn't work that well for you, then there will be another one coming soon. It's just that easy.
If you have questions about any of the strategies I offer, please feel free to email me and I will answer your questions as quickly as I can. My thought is, if you have a question about something I have posted, someone else out there has the same question. If I have posted something you think could be helpful to someone you know, please feel free to direct them to this page or my website, where I will be putting these words in blog format for safe keeping. If you have never been to my website, please go check it out: www.recoveryworksllc.net.
So, if you have more stress than you know what to do with, then let's get started. Let's work together to help you feel better! Let's bust your stress!
